1. About Saffa Score
Saffa Score translates South African credit reports into a USA-ready format. We are not a credit bureau and not a credit provider — we do not generate credit data ourselves, and we do not extend credit.
2. What We Do and Don't Do
We process the PDF credit report you upload. We do not connect to or pull data directly from any credit bureau. The USA-format output we produce is an estimate intended to help you communicate your SA credit history to a US audience — it is not an official US credit report or score.
3. Credit Score Conversion Methodology
The estimated US credit score displayed on SaffaScore reports is calculated by proportionally mapping the applicant's South African credit bureau score to the FICO® score range (300–850). This is a statistical estimate only. SaffaScore is not affiliated with Fair Isaac Corporation and does not produce an official FICO® score. This figure is provided for reference purposes only to assist US-based reviewers. Individual lender or landlord decisions remain at their sole discretion. SaffaScore accepts no liability for any decisions made on the basis of this estimate.
The table below shows how South African Experian score bands map to their approximate FICO® equivalents. The mapping uses a linear proportional conversion between the two published scoring scales.
| SA Band | SA Score Range | FICO® Equivalent | FICO® Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poor | 0–598 | Poor | 300–579 |
| Below Average | 599–615 | Fair | 580–669 |
| Average | 616–633 | Fair | 580–669 |
| Good | 634–657 | Good | 670–739 |
| Great | 658–999 | Very Good – Exceptional | 740–850 |

4. Currency Conversion
Monetary values originally denominated in South African Rand (ZAR) are converted to US Dollars (USD) using the live mid-market exchange rate sourced from open.er-api.com at the time the report was generated. Exchange rates fluctuate continuously. Converted USD amounts are provided for illustrative purposes only and do not constitute a financial quote or guarantee. SaffaScore accepts no liability for financial decisions made based on converted amounts.
5. Credits and Payments
Each report costs 1 credit. Purchased credits do not expire. Unused credits are refundable within 7 days of purchase; credits already used to process a report are non-refundable except in the case of a technical extraction error. See our Refund Policy for full terms.
6. Data Retention
Your reports are stored for 180 days. You may download your generated PDFs at any time during that period.
7. Acceptable Use
You may only upload your own credit report. Uploading someone else's report without their consent, or scraping, automating, or reverse-engineering the service, is prohibited.
8. Limitation of Liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for decisions made by third parties (landlords, banks, employers) based on reports generated through Saffa Score.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
